Buy safes

Safes are lockable units designed to protect their contents from unauthorized access, burglary, and/or fire. They come in various sizes, shapes, colours, and designs. The best safes provide protection against both burglary and fire and have certified security ratings. There are also specialized safes catering to different needs, such as mini-safes, large document cabinets, deposit safes, wall safes, and more. A safe is what keeps your belongings protected!

Fire Safes

  • Fireproof storage of valuables
  • For private and commercial use

If protection against fire is crucial when choosing your safe, then you should make sure that the safe is fireproof - that is the most important requirement.

High-quality fireproof materials ensure that your contracts, documents, valuables etc. do not get "too hot". Protect your contracts, certificates, documents, etc. with a fireproof safe so that nothing is lost in the event of fire outbreak.

Furniture Safes

  • Compact & space-saving
  • Internal hinges
  • Can be placed in furniture
  • Protection of private valuables

Due to the special construction, furniture safes are integrated into a piece of furniture - usually a cupboard or a table - and cannot be removed due to the anchoring.

The furniture safe is particularly suitable for small items, such as Jewelry, watches, coins, cash boxes or the like. No more loose valuables in various boxes and desks. You can still find your valuables in their usual place, but safely stowed in a furniture safe, which guarantees a high level of additional security protection and is also space-saving.

High Security Safes

  • Certified burglary protection
  • For commercial use
  • Optimal protection for valuables

Safes can be individually adapted to your needs - you choose between security levels, classes and degrees of resistance - and reliably provide burglar-proof and fire-proof protection. The excellent price-performance ratio means that a safe should definitely find space in your own four walls, because there are certainly enough things that are worth protecting. Conclusion: No more savings under the mattress, but safe storage of all valuable items in the safe!

Wall Safes
Wall Safes

Wall Safes

  • Are built into the wall
  • Can be hidden behind paintings
  • Protection for valuables
  • Observe installation regulations

When building your own home, you should think of the necessary burglar protection, this saves time and money. Of course, wall safes can also be installed at a later point in time. They are inconspicuously integrated into the wall to save space. Wall safes must be surrounded by a concrete jacket 100 mm thick to ensure optimum protection.

Wall safes come in many different sizes and several security levels. Another advantage is that they cannot be transported away either.

Deposit Safes

  • Throwing in valuables without opening
  • Insertion slot prevents unauthorized removal
  • Quick removal by authorized persons
  • Ideal for gas stations or companies with shift work

In the city, the daily visit to a bank to hand over cash receipts is usually not a problem; in the country side it is different. Since a till only offers minimal protection for your cash or important receipts, it is advisable to purchase a deposit or drop-in safe. As the name suggests - the money, receipts or other items are thrown in by the employees through a slot / flap. This means that only a draft is possible, but no extraction. Only authorized persons have a key and can take money or valuables elsewhere. Since the receipts/valuables are stored, i.e. deposited, one speaks of a deposit safe.

A deposit safe also serves the security of your staff, as they do not have to travel long distances with large amounts of money.

Hotel Safes

  • easy handling
  • compact & space-saving
  • can be placed in furniture
  • ideal for hotels

Hotel safes are easy to use and protect against unauthorized access. The code is chosen individually by the guest and can be changed at any time. The safe can be opened and closed without personnel. This is no longer responsible for the valuables, as was often the case in the past. The safe can be opened with an emergency key and master code if a guest has forgotten their code.

Since hotel safes are securely anchored - walled in or permanently installed - they cannot simply be transported away.

Choose the perfect hotel safe from our range - we will be happy to advise you on different sizes and security levels.

Business & Office Safes

  • Perfect for storing contracts & passports
  • Highest level of security
  • For private and commercial use

The reissue of a birth or marriage certificate, passport, citizenship certificates, etc. at registry offices and authorities is very tedious, annoying and often expensive. It becomes extremely difficult when e.g. essential documents from abroad get lost. These papers do not belong in the desk drawer or in a folder but rather in a document safe. All documents that have an emotional value (drawings, references, certificates ...) should also be located there, as they are really irretrievable. An office safe provides reliable protection against fire, heat and moisture and offers the necessary space to archive your papers. You have all the documents at your fingertips, a clear organization and the annoying search in different places is finally an end. Summary: A business safe belongs in every household!

The size of the safe and its contents must be coordinated. Consider carefully what you want to place in the safe:

  • Documents: (Number of folders, files, passports, contracts, etc.)
  • Cash, credit cards, savings books
  • Jewelry, watches, coins
  • Electronic items: Laptop, expensive camera
  • Storage media: Hard drives, CDs, DVDs, USB sticks
  • Keys
  • Medication
  • Short or long firearms
  • Items with sentimental value

Create a list to get an overview – how many folders, what valuables (measure larger ones), a jewellery box, etc. Also, plan for some extra space – 30 – 50%. Typically, additional folders and valuables accumulate over the years. If the safe is already completely filled at the time of purchase, there won't be room for new additions.

Tip:

An inventory list (preferably with photos) can be helpful in case of a break-in. You'll have evidence for the insurance of the contents that were in the safe. The list can be very useful for tracking the stolen items or their recovery.

If the desired size of your safe is not among our products, contact us regarding custom sizes – sometimes, there may be possibilities not apparent at first glance.

Not everyone has sufficient space or their own house, so it's crucial to consider the available space.

Depending on the model, safes can be installed in various ways:

  • Freestanding: The safe can be placed independently.
  • Built-in: The safe is embedded in the wall.
  • Integrated into furniture: The safe is installed in a piece of furniture such as a cabinet, dresser, or desk.

Security safes weighing less than 1000 kg must be securely anchored in the concrete floor. Proper anchoring is essential:

  1. To prevent the safe from being easily carried away in the event of a break-in.
  2. To ensure that insurance covers the damage in case of a break-in. Insurance payment can only be expected with proper installation.

If space is limited, it is advisable to integrate the safe into a piece of furniture such as a cabinet, dresser, or desk. Furniture safes are best suited for this purpose. These compact safes are anchored to the floor or the back wall, making them not easily "carried away." During a move, the safe can be easily disassembled and easily finds a new place in the new apartment.

Wall or floor safes are particularly space-saving, as they are built directly into the wall (or floor). They disappear completely into the masonry and are completely covered by pictures, furniture, decorative items, carpets, etc. The wall safe is enveloped by a 10 cm thick layer of concrete. Not every wall is suitable for installing a wall safe. Ideally, wall or floor safes should be considered during house planning, as retrofitting involves effort and costs. A wall safe cannot be taken with you when moving.

If you are renting, you are generally not allowed to make structural changes, including installing a wall safe, unless you have explicit permission from the landlord.

The sales advisors at Safes.co.uk are happy to assist you in choosing the right safe size and location.

If it is a furniture safe or a wall safe, these safes are well-hidden and not visible.

It's different for freestanding safes, which, due to their size, cannot be integrated. The safe does not have to catch everyone's eye immediately; a discreet placement is preferable (not near windows or in a customer/visitor area – passersby or visitors should not know where a safe is located). Place the safe in a dry room, especially if it has an electronic security lock, as moisture can affect the function of the electronic lock. A double-bitted lock or a mechanical combination lock does not react to moisture.

For fire-resistant safes, it is crucial to find a location not directly exposed to sunlight, as the fire protection insulation of the safe reacts to a temperature increase.

Consider how particularly large safes will be brought to their place – what about the condition of the floor/ceiling in terms of load capacity? Is there a narrow staircase or an elevator? It is essential to clarify such questions before the purchase to ensure a secure delivery and installation. That's why there is a transportation questionnaire to address any misunderstandings in a timely manner.

Tip:
Have the installation done by a professional. You will receive a declaration of conformity confirming the professionally and properly anchored safe. This provides a written proof for the insurance in case of a break-in and theft.

For more information on this topic, refer to the correct location for safes and safe anchoring and installation. Check here the delivery and shipping options available for the safe to arrive safely.

The safest safe depends on the specific security needs. Generally, the safety of a safe increases with its security level and/or fire protection. You need to consider whether the primary purpose of your safe is:

  • Protection against theft/burglary
  • Protection against fire
  • Both theft and fire protection are equally important

A certified burglary-resistant safe does not automatically protect against fires, and a fire-resistant safe may not necessarily offer burglary protection.

For important documents, fire protection might be crucial, while for cash, jewelry, or gold, preventing access by burglars may be the primary concern. If the safe contains both documents, data storage, and valuables, then a fire-resistant security cabinet may be the best choice.

Certified security safes have plaques inside indicating test institutes, security levels, etc. Safes without such plaques are untested and can only be insured after consultation with the insurance company.

Security levels are categorized based on burglary protection, while fire protection is determined through separate testing procedures, also confirmed with a plaque. Fire protection can be guaranteed for 30, 60, or 120 minutes, and it's differentiated between protection for paper (marked as "P") and protection for data storage (marked as "DIS").

A fire-resistant security cabinet with a high security level, such as EN4 or EN5, is an especially secure safe that also provides certified fire protection.

The key is to find the safest safe that meets your specific requirements. If you have questions about security levels or fire protection, consult with our experienced Safes.co.uk sales advisors.

Inexpensive safes either have no fire protection or limited fire protection. Sometimes, a surrounding fire rebate provides protection against minor fires, or a solidly built safe protects the contents longer than a single-walled safe.

We recommend a safe with certified fire protection, especially if you intend to securely store:

  • Important documents
  • Contracts, sales documents
  • Paper and digital data

Fire-resistant safes undergo rigorous testing, with the safe tested at temperatures of up to 1080°C for a duration of 60 to 120 minutes. This testing involves a heating phase in a furnace, a drop test from a height of 9.15 meters into a gravel bed, and a cooling phase.
Certified fire-resistant safes can protect data storage devices or paper against heat and fire. Pay attention to the labelling specifying what you want to protect, as the requirements for data storage devices and paper differ. Of course, you can also find fire-resistant safes that protect both.

Fire protection can be determined for three different time intervals:

  • Safes with 30 minutes of fire protection
  • Safes with 60 minutes of fire protection
  • Safes with 120 minutes of fire protection

Look for the certificate and testing label to ensure that fire protection is genuinely provided. Learn more in detail about the specific fire and fire protection classes of safes.
Fire protection can only be determined for paper (labelled as "P") or for both paper and data storage devices such as CDs, DVDs, USB sticks, etc. (labelled as "DIS").

Key Lock:

  • Generally, a key lock or double-bitted lock comes with 2 keys.
  • Users don't need to remember a combination, making it impossible to forget.
  • Very robust and can withstand moisture.
  • Suitable for certified and uncertified safes.

Electronic Lock:

  • The electronic lock offers millions of possible combinations to perfectly secure valuables.
  • The code can be changed anytime easily, providing flexibility and security.
  • The higher price is offset by the increased flexibility and security.
  • Suitable for certified and uncertified safes.

Mechanical Combination Lock:

  • The mechanical combination lock offers various code settings and can be changed as needed.
  • However, the handling of the lock is not very straightforward and requires precise operation.
  • Can be used for safes with or without security levels.

Bluetooth Lock:

  • Rottner Tresor has developed a safe with a Bluetooth lock.
  • The lock can be controlled through a smartphone app, providing various settings.
  • Offers practicality by providing a high degree of control over who can open the safe and how.
  • Installed in safes without security levels.

RFID Lock:

  • Safes with RFID locks can be easily and quickly unlocked using an RFID or NFC card.
  • Particularly practical for hotels.
  • These safes also have numeric locks or mechanical key openings for emergency access or in case of card loss.
  • Suitable for uncertified safes.

Fingerprint Lock:

  • The finger is always available for easy opening using a fingerprint.
  • Multiple fingerprints can be stored, allowing different individuals access to the safe.
  • Used in safes without security levels.

For further questions about our locks, feel free to contact our Safes.co.uk sales representatives, who will be happy to advise you on the advantages and disadvantages of each lock type.

Safe with Security Level:

A safe with a security level is tested by independent institutes such as ESSA or VdS according to strict European criteria. The safe is subjected to mechanical, electrical, and thermal tools, and a break-in attempt is intentionally carried out. Depending on the resistance, the corresponding security level is determined. The higher the level, the more secure the safe. An EN1 class provides higher security protection than an EN0 class, an EN3 class higher than an EN2 class, and so on.

A safe with a security level is a certified safe, confirmed by a plaque inside the safe. It can be insured for a higher amount compared to an uncertified safe. A safe with a certified burglary protection is more expensive than a safe without certified burglary protection.

Safe without Security Level:

An uncertified safe does not have a plaque and can only be insured after consultation with the insurance company. It is cheaper than a certified safe but offers less protection. A solidly built uncertified safe may be sufficient if you only need to securely store a file folder or personal items with sentimental value.

For personalized advice on whether to choose a safe with or without a security level, consult with an insurance advisor, considering the contents that will be kept safe. If you plan to store items like jewelry, cash, watches, expensive electronic devices, and other valuables, we strongly recommend a security-rated safe.
